Post office issues warning against Facebook scam

post office scam, facebook, internet scam
Fraudulent page with the name "Cyprus Postman"

The Cyprus Post Office on Wednesday issued another official warning to the public about a scam perpetrated through Facebook.

The scam concerns the alleged sale of unclaimed postal parcels located in postal service warehouses.

The services note that the page with the name “Cyprus Postman” bearing the post office logo is fraudulent, and call on the public to contact post office staff in order to establish whether a communication is genuine.

Scammers can be recognised by the fact that they do not refer to the postal services’ official website: https://www.cypruspost.post/ and request payments be made through portals other than JCC, the announcement notes.

The Cyprus Post Office does not store unclaimed parcels, since in event of non-delivery they are returned to the sender, the announcement concludes.
