Three Ukrainian nationals appeared in court in Kyrenia on Tuesday over the alleged murder of a Russian national in the town.

Mikhail Kamyshanov, a resident of the north, was found dead in the shop where he worked in Kyrenia on Monday evening.

Following his death, an autopsy revealed he died by being throttled.

Police said they believed one of the three suspects was in the shop on the day of the murder, and that the second then entered the shop and locked the door before both escaped the scene through a window following the murder.

They added that they are examining CCTV footage of the shop and the surrounding area.

The third suspect was arrested on the basis of messages sent between her and the two others, one of whom is her husband.

The trio were remanded in custody for three days, and the police’s investigation is ongoing.
