Three vessels spotted off Cavo Greco

The authorities were mobilised on Wednesday night after three vessels with migrants on board were spotted off the coast of Cavo Greco.

According to the Cyprus News Agency, the first vessel was detected by the coast guard’s radars around 3pm in the afternoon.

A coast guard officer went to the area and the boat was safely brought to Ayia Napa marina within half an hour.

There, the details of the 19 passengers, who are already on their way to Pournara reception centre, were recorded.

The second vessel is located just outside of Cavo Greco and according to preliminary estimates more than 100 people are on board.

A coast guard boat is expected to approach the boat and escort it to Ayia Napa marina, so that the same procedure can be followed for the passengers.

As for the third boat, also in the maritime area of ​​Cavo Greco, it was expected to be escorted to shore around 11pm, with about 70 people on board.

All passengers are expected to be taken to Pournara.
