Israeli technocrats arrived in Cyprus on Tuesday for talks with Cypriot officials regarding the Cyprus’ initiative to create a humanitarian corridor between the island and Gaza.

The visits come hot on the heels of two visits to Israel by Cypriot technical teams.

Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said, “we have drawn up a very specific plan for the implementation of the initiative, which aims to deal with the humanitarian crisis as it develops in Gaza which will significantly strengthen the necessary provision of humanitarian aid to the civilian population.”

He added, “it is well known that several states have expressed their intention to assist logistically in the initiative’s implementation.”

To this end, he said the first shipment of humanitarian aid is already being stored in Larnaca and is “ready to be dispatched as soon as conditions allow”.
