British diplomat Peter Wilson, the Director General for Europe at the United Kingdom’s Foreign Office, met Ersin Tatar at the latter’s official residence on Wednesday evening.
In a social media post following the meeting, Tatar said “I told him that a fair and lasting agreement [on the Cyprus problem] can only be found by reflecting the facts on the ground on the negotiating table, and that for this, it is essential that our sovereign equality and equal international status be confirmed.”
“I said that the cooperation of the two states is essential to give the island of Cyprus a permanent and shared prosperity, and shared our suggestions to achieve this in detail,” he added.
The Cyprus Mail contacted the United Kingdom’s Foreign Office for comment.
