The Council of Ministers on Thursday has green lighted a proposal presented by the deputy ministry of culture, in collaboration with the education ministry, for the implementation of a policy that would grant free entry to archaeological and historical sites, public museums and monuments for teachers from both public and private schools.

A statement from the deputy ministry of culture said that the objective is “to promote education, training, and information among educators on cultural matters, and to enhance access to cultural heritage and contemporary artistic creation.”

“The ultimate goal is to foster the development of cultural education,” the statement said.

The education ministry will issue certificates to all teachers working in public and private schools, valid for one academic year, enabling them to access cultural sites.

“The initiative seeks to bolster the understanding and appreciation of Cyprus’ rich cultural heritage among educators, emphasising the significance of integrating cultural knowledge into educational frameworks,” the statement concluded.
