Police in Paphos on Wednesday fined a man for illegal possession and transportation of an unregistered gun and illegal hunting activity.

According to the police, the man was spotted around 5am in a permitted hunting zone, by members of an anti-poaching unit on motorised patrol between the villages of Chrysochou and Steni.

Following questioning and inspection of the weapon, officers determined it was not registered in the Republic and that the hunter, aged 45, did not possess a license.

The man was taken to Polis Chrysochou police station, charged in writing and released to be summoned later.
