Man remanded for Paphos thefts, drugs and knife possession

The Paphos district court issued a five-day detention order against a suspect wanted for an investigated case of extortion by false representation and illegal drugs possession, it was announced on Tuesday.

According to the police, the victim reported the details of the case on September 1, specifically that his mobile phone and credit card had been stolen and used in five different shops.

Police secured a witness and testimony against a 30-year-old suspect who was found by police and arrested on Friday with the warrant pending against him.

In a subsequent search of the suspect’s home, police found a number of knives and illegal drugs and the 30-year-old was placed under house arrest for five days.

He faces charges of obtaining property by false representation, electronic payment fraud, possession of burglary tools, carrying a weapon, and possession of class A and B controlled drugs.

Police are continuing the investigations.
