An educational day trip for adults is what the Association of the Friends of the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia has planned for June. It involves visiting the Atsas Organic Farm and Atsas Training Centre to learn about Cypriot olive oil and local herbs.

On Monday, June 3, the Association of the Friends of the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia and the AG Leventis Gallery and the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia organise an eventful morning in the Evryhou Solea Valley. At 9am, participants will depart from the Municipal Museum and head to the farm. There, they will meet Anastasia Panteli, Operations Manager and Agriculturist of the Atsas Organic Farm, who will introduce participants to the world of the production of the award-winning Atsas olive oil as well as the history of olive-oil making in the area.

After some olive oil tasting, the excursion will continue to the Atsas Training Centre where its director Dr Phrosso Hadjilucas will welcome and introduce participants to its role in the Soleas, while coffee and tea with organic herbs will be offered.

At 11.30am a guided tour of the centre’s botanical garden will be held which is home to many Cypriot and endemic plants and herbs. Up next will be a presentation of beeswax ointment-making by Maria Economou, gifting each participant their own jar. The day will conclude with a light meal before departing for Nicosia at 1.30pm. The event will be held in Greek and has a €40 participation fee which includes all of the experiences and transport.
