A British tourist was found dead on Tuesday morning, after falling from a hotel balcony in Paphos.

Police said that the individual, who has still not been identified, was found dead in the main garden of a hotel in Kouklia.

Criminal activity has been ruled out, deputy chief of operations in Paphos police Michalis Nikolaou said.

Officers have obtained testimony saying the was part of a group of tourists who had been consuming a large quantity of alcohol until the early hours.

The scene was cordoned off by police, and a state pathologist had visited the scene to examine the body, who said there were no suggestions of a crime.

The 45-year-old had been staying with friends at the hotel for the last few days.
