This week’s live music gigs bring entertainment to rural villages and towns, enriching August’s agenda. Four events stand out this week, although there’s plenty to go around, satisfying all tastes and ages.
Up first is an intimate music show at a Larnaca studio. Held at recording studio Hot Soap Studios on Thursday, the Allusion Quartet will perform a cosy set. The event is part of the Hot Soap Intimate Sessions, a one-off series held each year. This time, the organisers have invited the jazzy group to perform live, introducing audiences to their jazz, pop, funk, blues, modal and free improv sound.
Friday night in Limassol will be all about blues, rock and experimental tunes as the four-piece band Cherry on Top takes the floor of Billy Jo Sports & Rock Bar. The Limassol-based band was founded in 2022 and plays genres from funk and pop to blues and rock. Their repertoire includes cover songs as well as original materials, certain to uplift the mood.
Then on Saturday night, the enchanting tale of The Little Prince will uniquely come to life as an actor and three musicians put on a special performance. The Fasoula village square will host a musical performance that is inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic fairy tale. Blending live music and narration, original compositions with instruments such as the handpan, theremin and percussions, the performance is suitable for all ages.
Giorgos Evagorou, Dimitris Spyrou, Vasilis Vasiliou and Andreas Rodosthenous will present their performance again on August 13 at Anogyra village and on August 14 in Melini village, both times at the central square.
