The American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo (AUB Mediterraneo) and the Pafos Regional Board of Tourism (PRBT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 2, 2024 to promote collaboration, joint initiatives and activities for mutual benefit and societal improvement.

The partners will work together on a wide range of initiatives, including: providing training and internship opportunities for AUB Mediterraneo students at PRBT, joint participation in European and other research programs aimed at enhancing enterprise competitiveness, and the provision of advisory services by AUB Mediterraneo to PRBT, including scientific studies on topics such as innovation, energy production, technology, management and marketing.

Rector Wassim El Hajj, PhD, who signed the memorandum on behalf of AUB Mediterraneo, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. “This partnership underscores AUB Mediterraneo’s commitment to supporting the Paphos community through education, research, and innovation,” he noted. “It will enable us to enhance the academic and practical experiences of our students, while contributing to the development of the tourism sector in Paphos, home to the American University of Beirut’s new campus in Cyprus. We are excited about the opportunities this collaboration will bring.”

Chairman Kyriacos Droushiotis, who signed the memorandum on behalf of PRBT, echoed this sentiment. “We are delighted to partner with AUB Mediterraneo; this collaboration will benefit our members and staff and contribute to growth and innovation in the Paphos tourism industry,” he said. “We are looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership with AUB Mediterraneo.”
