August’s cosmic full moon is a highly-anticipated event every summer. Big, bright and all-powerful, the full moon will arrive this month on August 19 and what better way to mark the occasion than with a poetry night. Get ready Larnaca for an evening of poetry, literature and music under the starry sky.
The International Larnaca Poetry Festival, in collaboration with Aithrion, organises the unique event For the Full Moon of August, where a line-up of authors, poets and artists will perform under the light of the full moon. Held at To Aithrion opposite the Pierides Museum in Larnaca at 7pm, they will recite poems, sing songs and perform music live. Over 20 individuals are to present a live piece be it a dance, a song, a poem, a musical interlude and so on. Entrance to the event, which will be held in Greek, costs just €5 and includes a cheese and fruit platter for audiences to enjoy along with the full moon performances.
Across the street at the Pierides Museum, an outdoor film screening will be held on the same evening. The award-winning film Murina will be shown on the courtyard’s big screen, in its original English and Croatian with subtitles in Greek. Best of all, it is free to attend!
