A 47-year-old Ayia Napa man was arrested for cases of indecent exposure and assault against five women.

According to the police, one of them is a 17-year-old minor.

Five women, aged up to 22, reported the crimes on three separate dates, saying a man unknown to them had committed indecent acts and two assaults.

The acts happened between July 30 and August 11, when at various times the women reported the man had approached them, stopped his car, opened the door and performed an obscene act. In two instances he allegedly also assaulted the women.

During investigations in the area, Ayia Napa police obtained evidence against the suspect and secured a judicial arrest warrant against him.

Officers subsequently located the man shortly after 9am on Monday and took him into custody.

The case has been filed to Famagusta district court and a sentence is expected to be filed on Wednesday.
