Traffic police were out in popular spots around Limassol, carrying out alcotests and narcotests as well as monitoring roads expected to be packed with people out enjoying their August 15 holiday.

Out since dawn, traffic officers were on key roads particularly that of Limassol, Platres, Troodos, where increased traffic was expected.

Seeking to avoid as many accidents as possible, police said they will be clamping down on speeding, dangerous overtaking, use of safety belts, helmets, reckless driving, and those using their phone while driving.

Officers will also be carrying out alcotests and narcotests.

Police assured the public there would be an increased presence at the Alphamega stadium in Limassol for the Pafos FC and CSKA 1948 game set to take place at 8pm as part of the third qualifying round of the Europa Conference League.

An action plan has been set up for fans to head to and away from the stadium, police said.
