There is a “positive climate” in discussions with trade unions for the renewal of the collective agreement in the hotel industry, Cyprus Hotel Association (Pasyxe) director general Philokypros Roussounides said on Tuesday.

He told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) “the climate is positive on both sides. We believe that both sides are on track to find a common line, which will be beneficial and favourable for both the workers and the industry in general.”

Roussounides said it was likely that “we will find a solution over the coming weeks to renew the collective agreement, with some provisions, so that labour peace will be maintained.”

He said that there would be various meetings over the next couple of weeks among the members of Pasyxe and that in early September they would be meeting the trade unions.

Roussounides added that the labour ministry was informed and that the aim was “to close the issue the soonest possible.”
