A British tourist was found dead in his hotel in Ayia Napa, police said on Wednesday.

The tourist, 30, was found unconscious in his hotel room on Tuesday night, and was taken to Famagusta general, where on-call doctors pronounced him dead.

Police said that they received a call about the man around 9pm on Tuesday night. Authorities went to the scene and took him to hospital in an ambulance.

According to police, criminal activity has been ruled out.

A post-mortem conducted by state pathologist Aggeliki Papetta yielded no result.

Samples were taken from the body to send for lab testing.
