XM‘s recent donation to Sistema Cyprus covers all operational costs of the programme in Larnaca. The music-social orchestra programme, founded in 2017, has helped over 350 young people to date, offering them free music lessons, participation in a symphony orchestra, and concerts in Cyprus and abroad.

The programme aims to empower children and young people with fewer opportunities, and ensures that these groups are respected, recognised and included in society.

“XM’s contribution to Sistema Cyprus is vital to the programme,” said the Director of Sistema Cyprus, Nicoletta Polydorou. “Thanks to the long-term support of the company, we can and do offer children a safe and creative environment, so that they can develop their skills and talent, as well as communicate and socialise with other children through the international language of music.”

XM’s Head of Events and CSR Manager, Konstantina Stylianou, also hailed the collaboration. “We are moved by the noble cause and message of Sistema Cyprus, and we are committed to continue our sponsorship and wholehearted support for the years to come,” she said. “Music education offers a unique opportunity for children to feel respected and included in society and to reach their full potential.”

Music education is known for its multiple benefits in a child’s development, as it enhances concentration, learning ability and offers significant mental and emotional benefits. Sistema Cyprus, founded in 2017, is a social-music orchestra programme inspired by the Venezuelan El Sistema, which started in the slums of Caracas in 1975. The programme provides free symphonic music education with a focus on the personal development of participants, promoting empowerment and the utilization of their potential. The project of Sistema Cyprus operates in Nicosia and Larnaca which XM also supports every year.

XM‘s long-term support demonstrates its dedication to enhancing the personal and social development of children through music education. The company will also support the Wanderlust music concert taking place in December 2024. This is a new initiative, where children from Sistema Cyprus and El Sistema Greece, will perform together and showcase their talents.

XM is committed to creating a better future by helping those in need, including children around the world, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
