The Paphos Regional Board of Tourism (Etap) announced this week that it is organising free thematic excursions to promote the cultural and natural heritage of the Polis Chrysochous-Akamas area.
The initiative forms part of a broader effort to highlight lesser-known areas and strengthen the region’s appeal as a multi-dimensional tourism destination.
According to the board, the excursions, scheduled for May and June, focus on five key points of interest.
These include the Sea and Culture Museum, the Reptile and Amphibian Park, the Marion-Arsinoe Archaeological Museum, the Akamas Museum of Rural Life and Tradition in Droushia, and the Information Centre for Avifauna and Terrestrial Flora in Kathikas.
These locations, Etap said, create a multi-thematic narrative linking nature, marine life and historical development.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore biodiversity and marine ecosystems, while also discovering archaeological findings that reflect the long history of Polis Chrysochous.
The excursions will take place every Saturday during May and June, offering free participation for both locals and visitors.
They are supported by the municipalities of Polis Chrysochous and Akamas.
Departures will be from the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park at 09:15, with a return to the same location at 16:30.
The initiative aims to enhance domestic tourism while supporting the balanced development of the Paphos district.
Particular emphasis is placed on the educational dimension, with guided tours and activities designed to raise awareness of environmental protection, cultural heritage and sustainable development.
“This action also forms part of the Paphos tourism board’s broader mission to strengthen environmental consciousness, enhance the quality visitor experience, and promote lesser-known areas,” the announcement mentioned.
“The Paphos regional tourism board continues to implement targeted actions that promote Polis Chrysochous and Akamas, the visibility of less prominent areas, further strengthening the position of the Paphos district as a modern, sustainable, and multi-dimensional tourism destination,” it added.
More information and reservations are available through the official website of the Paphos tourism board, the announcement concluded.
