The entrepreneurial spirit in Cyprus shone brightly at the Startup World Cup Cyprus Finals 2024, where Fincom emerged victorious among nine competing startups.

Presented by Unlimit, the event showcased the innovative prowess of the region, culminating in Fincom’s triumph as the latest champion.

Fincom, led by CEO & President Gideon Drori, captivated the judges with its cutting-edge technology in financial compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) solutions.

Their platform, which leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning, offers a scalable and efficient way for financial institutions to identify and mitigate risks related to money laundering, fraud, and other financial crimes.

“Fincom truly captured the judges’ attention with its impressive market potential, global scalability, and a clear, compelling presentation of their innovative solution,” the event organisers noted.

The competition, held amidst much anticipation, was judged by a panel of eight esteemed professionals, including Yuriy Romanyukha, Persia Georgiadou, Stavriana A. Kofteros, Dmitry Dosov, Theodoros Loukaidis, Carolos Georgallis, Panayiotis Philimis, and Yiannis Eftychiou.

After thorough deliberation, Fincom was selected as the standout startup, praised for its strong potential for global expansion and the far-reaching impact of its solution.

This victory grants Fincom the coveted opportunity to compete on the global stage at the Grand Finale in San Francisco, where they will contend for a $1,000,000 investment prize.

Additionally, Fincom has secured $5,000 in marketing services from MART, and their travel expenses to San Francisco will be covered by the Direct Trade Foundation.

This win not only highlights Fincom’s innovation but also positions them on the international stage as the champions of the Cyprus Regional Finals.

In a special mention, the team Soula, which is developing an empathetic co-pilot for mothers, was awarded up to 80 hours of free auditing and up to $50,000 in development investment from technology partner Cybergizer.

The event, which was made possible through the support of several partners, highlighted the dynamic growth of Cyprus’s startup ecosystem, further solidifying the island’s status as an innovation hub in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Startup World Cup Cyprus Finals “once again proved that this island nation is a formidable player on the global startup stage,” reflecting Cyprus’s potential to influence global markets.
