Education Minister Athena Michaelidou said on Sunday this school year will certainly be better than the previous ones, because they are implementing their goals, they are implementing the policies announced.
In an interview with the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) ahead of the start of the school year, she said school infrastructure projects with a total cost of €11,860,913.93 have been implemented or will be completed very soon.
In addition to these, and during the new 2024-2025 school year, another 25 projects with a total cost of more than €140 million will continue or start to be implemented, she said.
“We want everyone’s cooperation, to be by our side, because the results are already visible. We are moving forward in the modern school methodically, step by step, we are evaluating our results, and we are proceeding on the basis of informed decisions,” she added.
Responding to a question, the minister said that the technical services department, within the framework of its responsibilities, is implementing the ministry’s building planning and is carrying out all the necessary works to ensure the smooth and safe operation of schools.
“The building programming includes projects of construction, extensions of anti-seismic facilities and energy upgrades, and maintenance and improvements of school buildings,” she said.
