A two-day remand order has been issued against a 71-year-old suspect, in connection with Tuesday’s hit-and-run in Ypsonas, Limassol, in which 42-year-old Amid Rashidi Kavanroodi from Iran was killed.

The cyclist was hit and fatally injured by the vehicle.

Police obtained a witness testimony, which led to a lorry driven by the 71-year-old.

The suspect was arrested and when questioned said he knew nothing about the incident, claiming that he possibly did not see the cyclist.

The suspect was taken before the Limassol district court on Wednesday, which issued a two-day remand order to facilitate police investigations.

The offences of causing death by negligence and leaving the scene of an accident without providing help are being investigated against the 71-year-old.
