Police are investigating the death of a 65-year-old Greek Cypriot patient at a private hospital in Nicosia, who was found dead having fallen from his room window.

The patient, who had been given a room on the second floor, was found at 6am by the nursing staff on a first-floor windowsill.

Despite efforts, the man died of his wounds.

Although he did not fall far, it appears he sustained injuries on a part of his body that did not leave room for recovery.

The exact cause of death with be determined by the autopsy.

Police are investigating the circumstances under which the man plunged to his death.

The room window was open and police believe he may have opened it for air.

They also believe it may have been an accident, as he would have fallen differently had he been pushed, Philenews reported.

The man was admitted for pathological reasons and was not facing any other problems, nor had he ever been treated in a hospital before.
