A fire was raging at the Pissouri community on Friday night, with firefighting trucks struggling to reach the source of the flames.
The fire began at around 8pm close to a road on a rugged mountain slope, according to forestry department spokesman Giorgos Constantinou.
Nonetheless, winds are not strong, he specified.
Firefighting trucks from the forestry department, firefighting department and community were battling the flames.
Community leader Panayiotis Mavroudies said the terrain was making it difficult for the vehicles to reach the site.
Volunteer vehicles from Atlas and Kitweather were also at the scene to support the efforts.
