The Ayia Napa municipality on Tuesday bestowed eight frequent travellers to the area with the honour of being “tourism ambassador”.

The eight – four couples – were presented with the honour by municipal secretary Fotos Kikilos.

They are Dyba and Dybova Pavel from the Czech Republic, who have visited Ayia Napa 26 times, James and Sonya Tracey Lavery from the United Kingdom, who have visited 20 times, Richard and Donna Ford from Wales, who have visited 27 times, and Vesa Pekka Veikkolainen from Finland and Asa Susanne Bergvall from Sweden, who have visited 28 times.

Kikilos said at the presentation that the new ambassadors’ “special preference for Ayia Napa” is an “honour” for his municipality and added that bestowing this honour unto them is “the least we can do in return for the great and real love they have for this town”.

He added that the new ambassadors “are now considered honorary citizens of Ayia Napa, and not just visitors”.
