Two more teens were arrested for investigated cases of thefts and burglaries committed in Aglanja and other areas of the island’s capital over the past week, police reported on Wednesday.

According to the police, the recent arrestees are two 17-year-olds, who were taken into custody.

Three others had previously been arrested in connection with the crimes, two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old, who had been taken into custody on Sunday.

Evidence emerged that the three original suspects were involved in burglaries and thefts at a supermarket and a fruit shop in the area.

One of the recently arrested 17-year-olds is suspected of involvement in three other cases of break-ins and thefts from a fruit shop and a souvenir shop.

According to the evidence under consideration, the first burglary was committed on June 8, at a café in Lakatamia, from where money, merchandise, and a tablet were allegedly stolen.

Overnight between August 15 and 16, another burglary was committed in a grocery shop in Ayios Dometios, involving the theft of cash and food.

A supermarket burglary in Aglandja, committed overnight between September 24 and 25, involved theft of tobacco products.

The souvenir shop break-in took place overnight between October 3 and 4. A sum of money and goods were stolen from the premises, located in the Laiki Geitonia tourist zone of Nicosia.

A second burglary in Aglandja, committed overnight between October 5 and 6, involved the theft of money, phone cards and also tobacco products from a grocery shop.
