Classical music enthusiasts have plenty to enjoy this season thanks to the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s packed calendar. Concerts, recitals and performances are coming up in every big city on the island, with its upcoming festive concerts waiting to steal the show at the end of the year. Until then, more exciting classical music nights will entertain audiences, bringing to the stage esteemed soloists.

This week, the Orchestra will welcome violinist Alena Baeva and conductor Zoi Tsokanou to the stage for the Starlight 1 concerts. Nicosia and Limassol audiences will get to enjoy the concerts which will take place on Thursday at the Strovolos Municipal Theatre and Friday at the Pattihio Municipal Theatre.

“Called ‘a magnetic presence’ and ‘a constantly fascinating sound technician’ (New York Classical Review), violinist Alena Baeva is considered one of the most exciting, versatile, and alluring soloists active on the world stage today. The celebrated violinist collaborates with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and the charismatic, much sought-after conductor Zoi Tsokanou, to perform Mendelssohn’s iconic Violin Concerto in E Minor,” says the orchestra.

The repertoire will also include two more masterpieces of the Romantic musical ideal – Felix Mendelssohn’s Die Schöne Melusine and Louise Farrenc’s little-known Symphony No. 3.
