A 72-year-old woman is in a “serious condition” after having been involved in a road traffic collision in the Limassol district on Monday morning.

The collision occurred at around 7.20am on the road between the villages of Kantou and Omodos, with a car being driven by a 19-year-old man colliding with a car being driven by a 76-year-old man.

The woman was a passenger in the 76-year-old’s car, while the 19-year-old had another 19-year-old man as a passenger in his car.

All four involved were taken to the Limassol general hospital, with the 19-year-old driver suffering fractured ribs, bruises, and blunt force trauma to parts of his body, while the 76-year-old also suffered fractures to “various parts of his body”.

The 19-year-old passenger received first aid and was discharged.

However, the 72-year-old suffered “multiple injuries” and underwent surgery at a private hospital in Limassol, where she was kept in intensive care.

The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
