Unexploded projectiles fired out of a BMP tank were found near the Larnaca district village of Ayia Anna, police announced on Thursday.
The projectile had been found at around 7.45am on Wednesday by a hunter, with the police and the fire brigade travelling to the scene.
The police said they then found the projectiles and carried out controlled demolitions.
BMP tanks are used by Cyprus’ National Guard, having been constructed in the Soviet Union between 1961 and 1987.
The National Guard uses BMP-3 tanks, which fire the 100mm projectiles which were found in Ayia Anna on Wednesday. It had taken delivery of a total of 43 such tanks between 1995 and 1996.
