As part of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation’s (BoCCF’s) #Moments at the Museum ’24 series, there will be an interactive art workshop, “De-mapping the Familiar: A Journey Beyond Boundaries” on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 11am.
The workshop, appropriate for those aged 10 and over, will take place at the Foundation’s Georgios and Nefeli Tziapra Pierides Archaeological Museum, and is designed for young teens and adults. It will combine the imaginative realms of Surrealism and Cubism, with practical creative practices.
Via this workshop, participants will embark on a journey of discovery, exploring how art can transform the familiar into the fantastic.
The session will begin with an engaging introduction to the surrealist and cubist movements, examining iconic artists and their groundbreaking works. Next, participants will then dive into a creative exercise, reimagining the map of Cyprus through collage and painting techniques. This process will encourage participants to question the boundaries between reality and imagination, challenging their perceptions and unlocking new avenues of creativity.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have produced unique artworks, which will be displayed in a mini exhibition, sparking discussions on the endless possibilities of future perspectives.
