Six bus stops in the village of Athienou have been decorated with local embroidery designs, it was announced on Tuesday.

Athienou municipality and the Larnaca tourism development company said the project aims to promote local embroidery, which is included on Unesco’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

They called on both citizens and visitors of Athienou “to enjoy these outdoor works of art, to be photographed with them, to protect them and to take on the role of rescuing and disseminating art and cultural heritage”.

Artists Irini Klokkari, Christiana Pougerasi and Chrysostomos Kitas designed the project’s six different installations.
