Stargazers have a treat coming up, when the seven planets of the solar system that are visible from Earth will align for just one night.
This spectacular planetary phenomenon will be visible on February 28, with Saturn, Mercury, Neptune, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter and Mars.
According to the Cyprus Astronomy Organisation, astronomers and enthusiasts can observe the alignment with telescopes or binoculars and see Saturn’s rings and Jupiter’s moons. Those with more advanced equipment can expect to observe blueish Neptune or greenish Uranus.
Those without any equipment can see bright Venus and reddish Mars, which will be visible to the naked eye.
February 28 is also an opportunity for the scientific community to study the dynamic of planetary systems and inspire new generations of astronomers, the organisation said.
It added that the phenomenon was a “live reminder of the mathematical precision and cosmic order regulating our solar system”.
For those of an astrological or spiritualist bent, the cosmic event presents an ideal time for spiritual practices, manifestation and self-transformation.
Throughout January, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible and around January 17 and 18, Venus and Mars will be at their closest. Uranus and Neptune will be visible only through a telescope. And then on February 28, Mercury will join the party.
