Liverpool striker Cody Gakpo scored twice and created another goal as Liverpool cruised to a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town at Anfield on Saturday to remain top of the Premier League.
The win lifts Liverpool to 53 points, six ahead of second-placed Arsenal, who beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0. Ipswich remain in the relegation zone in 18th position on 16 points, behind Wolves on goal difference.

Dominik Szoboszlai broke the deadlock for Liverpool in the 11th minute and Gakpo then set up Mohamed Salah to score in the 35th minute before adding the third himself nine minutes later to send the Reds in 3-0 up at the break.

Gakpo got his second in the 66th minute, heading home a superb cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold, and it took a 90th-minute goal from Ipswich defender Jacob Greaves to deny Liverpool a clean sheet in an otherwise dominant display.

Riccardo Calafiori’s goal earned Arsenal a 1-0 win away to Wolves after a contest which ended with both sides down to 10 men, and the visitors keeping their Premier League title hopes alive with a hard-fought victory.
Arsenal had Myles Lewis-Kelly controversially sent off just before the break and Wolves Joao Gomes received his marching orders with 20 minutes remaining and the game still scoreless.
Calafiori, a substitute at the start of the second half, struck four minutes later, and Arsenal came away from Molineux with the all-important three points.

The win keeps Arsenal second in the standings, six behind Liverpool who have played one fewer game. Arsenal move three points ahead of Nottingham Forest, while Wolves remain just above the relegation zone in 17th place on 16 points.

Alexander Isak meanwhile scored twice as Newcastle beat rock-bottom Southampton 3-1 at St Mary’s to climb to fourth in the table, ahead of Man City’s late fixture at home to Chelsea.
Southampton captain Jan Bednarek put his side ahead in the 10th minute, powering home a header from just outside the six-yard box from James Bree’s cross.

Isak equalised with a penalty in the 26th minute after a tangle of legs and a lengthy VAR check. He put his side ahead four minutes later with a curling off-the-post finish, before Sandro Tonali made it three.
Southampton’s Mateus Fernandes thought he had scored in the 84th minute, only to have his effort disallowed after another VAR decision.

Dango Ouattara bagged a hat-trick as in-form Bournemouth crushed third-placed Nottingham Forest 5-0, the visitors’ first loss in nine league matches.
Dutch forward Justin Kluivert, who scored a hat-trick at Newcastle last weekend, charged out of his own half in the ninth minute and hammered a shot past a diving Matz Sels.

Ouattara headed in Kluivert’s cross in the 55th minute to double the hosts’ lead, struck again six minutes later and slotted home his third three minutes from time. Antoine Semenyo completed the rout in added time to extend Bournemouth’s unbeaten run in the league to 11 matches.
Forest remained on 44 points from 23 matches, while Bournemouth moved to sixth with 40 points.

Finally, Iliman Ndiaye scored a first half penalty as Everton secured only their second Premier League away win since December 2023 with a 1-0 victory at Brighton and Hove Albion to move seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Brighton defender Joel Veltman inexplicably handled the ball under pressure from striker Beto, scooping it away with his right arm, and Ndiaye kept his cool to bury the spot-kick in the bottom left corner.
Everton had to weather wave after wave of Brighton attacks in the second half but the home side, who were on a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions, failed to break down a resolute visiting defence.
