Two women are recovering in hospital after falling from a moving car in Limassol early on Monday morning.

The women, aged 44 and 45, were sitting on the back of a convertible car when they fell onto the asphalt. Despite suffering serious injuries, their condition is not life-threatening, according to medical staff at Limassol general hospital.

The incident occurred at 3.40am when a 35-year-old man offered to drive a group of four women home after a night out at an event venue in Tsiflikoudia. Two of the women chose to sit on the back of the vehicle, with their legs resting on the rear seats. As the driver took a turn on Franklin Roosevelt avenue, the women fell from the car.

The driver, who reportedly fled the scene following the incident, was later apprehended by Limassol traffic police. He has been arrested on charges of reckless driving, transporting passengers in unsafe positions, and leaving the scene of an accident.

The women were taken to hospital with head injuries, abrasions and bruises. Fortunately, neither is in critical condition. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
