The Cyprus issue will be on the agenda of the House of Representatives on February 27 under Chapter D, Speaker Annita Demetriou announced before setting the official schedule. She noted that she had raised the matter again during a meeting with leaders and representatives of parliamentary parties.
The debate follows a proposal by Diko MP Pavlos Mylonas. The registered topic is titled: “The efforts of the Cyprus president to resume talks for a solution to the Cyprus problem and the dangers posed by Turkey’s stance for a solution outside the framework of the United Nations.”
In a separate matter, Demetriou expressed concerns over delays in budget submissions from semi-governmental organisations.
Of the 44 organisations, only 27 have submitted their budgets to the House so far. The remaining 17 are yet to be reviewed, excluding those already scheduled for discussion.
Among the key organisations that have yet to submit their budgets are Cyta, CyBC, the Housing Finance Organisation, the Health Insurance Organisation (OAY), the State Health Services Organisation (Okypy), the Cyprus University of Technology (Tepak), the University of Cyprus, the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority (Raek), and the Natural Gas Public Company (Defa).
The speaker urged all institutions to avoid further delays, dismissing claims that submissions had not been late. She called for better cooperation to prevent the same issues from recurring.
