Morning clouds bringing showers in the lowlands and snow or sleet in the higher mountains, are expected on Thursday after which the weather will gradually clear. Temperatures will rise to 13C inland, 15C on the coast, and 2C in the higher mountains, where frost will persist. Winds will be mainly westerly to north-westerly, moderate to strong, up 5 Beaufort, and temporarily very strong on the windward side, up to 6 Beaufort. The sea will be rough.

Overnight will be mainly clear with temperatures dropping to 1C degree inland, 6C on the west coast, 4C on the remaining coasts and -3C in the higher mountains bringing pervasive frosty conditions. Winds will be mainly north-westerly to north-easterly, light to moderate, up to 4, later abating. The sea will be slightly rough.

Friday is expected to stay clear with high clouds observed on Saturday, while Sunday sees a chance of afternoon rains in the mountains.

Temperatures will rise on Friday and hold steady through Sunday, close to the average for the season.

The snow depth at 5am was 11cm in Troodos Square and 22cm in Chionistra.
