The industrial producer price index for January 2025 stood at 121.9 points, with 2021 acting as the base year set at 100 points, marking a 0.3 per cent decrease compared to the same month in 2024, according to a report from the state statistical service.

The report indicated that, in comparison to January 2024, there were increases in the water supply and materials recovery sector (1.8 per cent), the mining and quarrying sector (1 per cent), and the manufacturing sector (0.8 per cent).

However, there was a decrease in the electricity supply sector (5 per cent).

In January 2025, compared to the same month of the previous year, there were increases in the construction of electronic and optical products and electrical equipment (4.4 per cent) and in furniture manufacturing, other manufacturing activities, and the repair and installation of machinery and equipment (4.3 per cent).

Additionally, paper production and printing saw an increase of 3.3 per cent, along with the production of textiles, clothing, and leather products, which rose by 2.8 per cent.

Other sectors also experienced growth, including petroleum refining, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals (2 per cent), as well as the production of machinery, transport equipment, and other transport equipment (1.9 per cent).

On the other hand, small decreases were noted in the food, beverages, and tobacco products industry (0.2 per cent) and in the production of basic metals and the manufacture of fabricated metal products (0.1 per cent).

In comparison to December 2024, the index recorded a decrease of 0.2 per cent.

Month-on-month, the mining and quarrying sector saw an increase of 1.2 per cent, while the electricity supply sector dropped by 0.7 per cent, water supply and materials recovery fell by 0.4 per cent, and the manufacturing sector declined by 0.2 per cent.
