The Limassol municipality and City Friends Club are coming together to support Earth Hour 2025, a global movement that raises awareness about climate change and environmental protection.

Earth Hour is a worldwide initiative of The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) that began with goal the reduction of energy for our planet. On the last Saturday of March, people worldwide are encouraged to turn off their lights for one hour, as a symbolic act of solidarity with the planet.

On March 22, individuals, businesses and organisations in Limassol are invited to participate by switching off non-essential electric lights for one hour, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. Limassol Municipality will turn off the lighting at the Town Hall, while the City Friends Club will do the same at its office.

“Limassol Municipality supports Earth Hour 2025 as part of our commitment to sustainability and raising awareness about the importance of environmental responsibility. We encourage all residents, businesses and organisations in Limassol to join us in this symbolic gesture, demonstrating our shared commitment to protecting the planet for future generations,” said Limassol mayor Yiannis Armeftis.

City Friends Club, known for its active role in sustainable waste collection and environmental education, emphasises that small actions can lead to a significant impact. “We are proud to collaborate with Limassol municipality on this initiative. Earth Hour is not just about turning off the lights – it’s a reminder that small actions can lead to big changes for our planet,” said founder and CEO City Friends Club, Anna Gubareva.

Together, we can make a difference!
