The Paphos regional tourism board (Etap) announced this week that it is reviving its free guided tours to the Akamas communities over the next two months, aiming to highlight local points of interest and boost visits to the area.
According to the announcement, the initiative, supported by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, forms part of a broader support programme for Akamas communities announced by president Nikos Christodoulides.
The board stated that the tours will take place every Saturday throughout May and June 2025.
The day-long excursions are designed to provide both residents and visitors with a comprehensive introduction to the natural, cultural, and geological richness of the Akamas peninsula.
Tours begin with departures from designated bus stops near the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park.
From there, participants travel by coach along the coastal route and through the Peyia forest, with the first stop in the village of Pano Arodes.
This is followed by a visit to the Akamas Geology and Palaeontology Information Centre, where exhibits explore the geological history and fossil findings of the region.
A short stop in the village square precedes the next destination: the village of Ineia, home to the Turtle Museum.
Visitors there can learn about the biology, behaviour, and conservation of sea turtles native to the area.
The journey continues to Drouseia, where the Akamas Rural Life and Traditions Centre offers a cultural experience through a museum visit and live demonstrations of local crafts and artisanal techniques by village residents.
By midday, the group heads to nearby Kathikas for a visit to the Akamas Avifauna and Flora Visitor Centre.
This facility showcases the rich birdlife and plant species of the peninsula through interactive displays, photography, and videos.
