With the aim of promoting awareness around safe and responsible riding, as well as strict adherence to the highway code, EKO Cyprus is once again organising training seminars for motorcyclists through its “EKO Safe Rider” initiative.
Marking 10 years since the launch of this important initiative, a press conference was held on April 28, 2025 at the Traffic Education Park in Aglantzia.
Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Alexis Vafeades, and a representative of the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, Mr Petrides were in attendance. Director of the Police Traffic Department Charis Evripidou was there, representing the Chief of the Cyprus Police, while members of the Cyprus Motorsport Federation (CMF) were also present. Among the guests was well-known Cypriot actor and motorcyclist Tony Demetriou, who stars in EKO Cyprus’s new advertising campaign.
Under the message “Enjoy Your Passion Safely”, the new campaign’s promotional videos were debuted, placing particular emphasis on the prevention of road accidents and the cultivation of responsible driving behaviour. At the same time, they mark the beginning of a major awareness campaign to take place throughout May, aimed at educating the public.
Road safety remains a critical social issue, with motorcyclists among the most vulnerable users of the road network. In response, EKO Cyprus continues for the 10th consecutive year its initiatives with consistency and a sense of responsibility. The “EKO Safe Rider” training seminars for motorcyclists aim to strengthen road safety, provide in-depth education on technical aspects and significantly reduce traffic accidents, which have become a growing concern.

The seminars are conducted in collaboration with City’s A.R.T., under the auspices of CMF, and follow the methodology of the Greek branch of the California Superbike School. City’s A.R.T. instructors are certified professionals with extensive experience who train participants in technical skills, safety practices and correct riding behaviour. The programme focuses on identifying and correcting common handling errors, thereby enhancing motorcyclists’ active safety.
“Proper training and responsible adherence to the Highway Code are acts of respect for life – our own and that of those around us,” stated Minister Vafeades.
“EKO Cyprus established the EKO Safe Rider initiative with the goal of reducing traffic collisions and we strongly encourage everyone to participate in the upcoming seminars, as well as future ones,” emphasised Police Traffic Department Director Evripidou.
“As you all know, EKO Cyprus has consistently invested in road safety because it is a core part of our corporate culture,” noted EKO Cyprus, Managing Director Giorgos Gregoras, in his address. “That is why EKO Cyprus places strong focus on this crucial aspect of awareness and lifelong education for our male and female riders, regarding their road behaviour, protective measures and broader theoretical, technical and practical training,” he added.
“We know the risks motorcyclists face. We know the gamble each rider takes whenever they travel, whether a short or long distance. ‘It is a matter of education,’ we often say. And that is exactly right. It is a matter of education, of road awareness and of a conscious commitment to life. We all have a duty to put into practice whatever can ultimately prove life-saving. It is, in the end, a matter of life itself.”
A recent evaluation survey revealed that 65 per cent of participants were highly satisfied with the organisation, content and clarity of presentations in the “EKO Safe Rider” programme. More importantly, 84 per cent stated the seminars helped them better understand the importance of safe riding, while one in five said the knowledge gained could have helped them avoid a previous accident. These findings confirm that proper training saves lives.
The seminars will take place at Achna Speedway, Dasaki Achnas, on the following dates and times:
● May 17, 2025 | 9am–1pm and 2–6pm
● May 18, 2025 | 9am–1pm
● May 24, 2025 | 9am–1pm and 2–6pm
● May 25, 2025 | 9am–1pm
Participation is free and open to all motorcyclists, regardless of experience level.
