The value of bounced cheques in Cyprus dropped sharply in April 2025, with only €22,860 recorded from 23 dishonoured cheques, according to data released on Monday by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).

This represents a notable decline compared with April 2024, when 32 cheques worth €137,613 were reported.

Moreover, 11 cheques totalling €72,009 were registered during March 2025.

During the same month, nine individuals were added to the Central Information Register (CIR) preliminary list. These included six legal entities and three natural persons.

Between January and April 2025, a total of 84 bounced cheques were recorded, with a combined value of €179,424. This marks a drop from 108 cheques worth €252,988 during the same period last year.

These cheques involved 42 individuals—25 legal entities and 17 natural persons.

In April alone, 14 new entries were made to the CIR. These included six legal entities, one natural person, and seven natural persons controlling legal entities.

In total, 38 individuals were registered in the CIR during the January–April 2025 period, compared with 78 during the same timeframe in 2024.
