A 40-year-old man from Laranca was arrested for illegal cannabis cultivation, police said on Saturday.

After receiving a tip off, the drug squad checked the house of the suspect in Larnaca district late on Friday.

Officers found a nursery with six cannabis plants about 50 to 60cm tall in the bedroom and a small quantity of cannabis.

The plants were confiscated as well as the equipment used for their cultivation.

The suspect is expected to be remanded on Saturday.
