Nicosia police arrested two men, 29 and 39, who allegedly assaulted officers, one by biting the policeman after they were found late Friday walking on Ledra Street without a face mask.

According to police, the 29-year-old was spotted not wearing a mask and refused to give them his personal details.

In his attempt to run away, he bit one of the officers, but without causing any injury.

Another person, 39, allegedly also assaulted the officers trying to help the younger man.

They were both arrested, charged and released pending a court appearance.

The men were also fined €300 for not wearing a face mask.
