Coronavirus: System glitch misinforming over close contacts

A glitch in the CyRepublic service’s system has led to the delivery of text messages to people informing them they were close contacts of coronavirus cases even though this was not the case, it was announced on Saturday.

The deputy ministry for innovation announced that this was due to a technical problem during the upgrade of the Covid-19 reporting management system. The glitch has been identified and resolved immediately, the ministry said in a statement.

It added that people who received such messages will be informed through another SMS.

“Those who receive corrected messages are kindly requested to ignore the previous one,” the ministry said.

It expressed its sincere apologies to the people for the inconvenience this has caused.
