Jay Z’s net worth as of 2020 was estimated to be around $1 billion, and he and superstar singer wife Beyoncé’s lifestyle definitely reflects the figure.

The “Empire State of Mind” rapper has homes in Bel Air, the Hamptons, and Tribeca, but his newest purchase is a $2.6-million mansion in the Garden District of New Orleans, named La Casa de Castille. He and Beyoncé purchased the home for its personality. It used to be a church that was converted into a ballet studio before it was renovated into a residence, but the Carters kept a lot of its original historical design.

Boasting a total of 22 rooms, including seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms, La Casa de Castille also features a step-up dining room, a loft-style sitting room and a library with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. There are vintage columns and crown mouldings, a choir area that’s been converted to a loft, and church pews used as décor. The couple also spruced up the space with brightly-coloured walls and millions of dollars-worth of modern art.

The home is split into three spacious apartments and features one of the biggest rooftop gardens in all of New Orleans. It’s near Beyoncé’s sister Solange Knowles’ glitzy house in the French Quarter, and offers a perfect view of Mardi Gras festivities. Thanks also to its vintage furniture, the home offers rich Louisiana vibes for the couple when they’re in town.
