Seven natural remedies to relieve gout

This video is meant to expand your general knowledge about living a healthy life and is NOT a substitute for seeking medical advice. Please consult with your doctor before making changes in your health practices, diet and self-care.

In this video, Dr. Berg, a chiropractor who specialises in healthy ketosis and Intermittent Fasting, offers seven natural remedies for gout.

Gout is a sudden sharp pain in your big toe, or other joints, caused by crystals formed out of excess uric acid. Your white blood cells target these crystals as if they were pathogens. In other words, your own immune system creates inflammation to try to eliminate the crystal, which causes the pain.

Uric acid is formed from purines, found in organ meats, game, fish, seafood, sugar and yeast. If you are sensitive to these foods, you may want to start reducing them and see if your gout goes away. Making your body slightly more alkaline may also help reduce the formation of uric acid crystals.

The seven natural home remedies suggested for gout are:

  • Vitamin C
  • Ginger
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Lemon juice
  • Turmeric
  • Stinging nettle root
  • Potassium citrate

These remedies help promote a healthy pH level, which in turn can reduce gout symptoms.
