Coronavirus: cinemas and theatre to reopen on February 8 with restrictions

The cabinet announced on Wednesday that theatres and cinemas will be reopening on February 8 in keeping with the gradual easing of coronavirus measures.

Upon assessing the current epidemiological outlook, the cabinet decided that cinemas and theatres will be allowed to reopen at a maximum capacity of 50 people.

This decision comes almost a year after these venues were first forced to close as part of the government’s efforts to limit the spread of coronavirus.

The cabinet said the ministry of health will be briefing all relevant parties on the new health and safety protocols immediately.

Finally, it was specified that for the time being, a visit to a theatre or cinema will correspond to category 9 in the 8998 SMS service.
