A woman was charged in Limassol after she refused to wear a mask on a bus and allegedly assaulted a police officer, reports said on Tuesday.

Police intervened after receiving a call that the woman, 34, was refusing to wear a mask while on a bus in the coastal city.

Officers boarded the bus and asked the woman to put her mask on, but she refused and eventually pushed one of them and grabbed him from the throat, they said.

The woman was arrested and was later charged with assault and issued a fine for violating health and safety decrees.
