It’s almost time for Valentine’s Day. This year though, with restaurants and bars closed, there will be no romantic dinners or love-themed events. To celebrate this day of love, however, a few musicians are putting shows together online.
On Saturday Greek singer Alkistis Protopsalti is joining her fellow musicians for a charitable two-hour show all about love and supporting the Cyprus Anti-cancer Society. The concert will be broadcast on Alpha Cyprus at 9.20pm where Protopsalti will perform beloved songs as well as a brand-new ballad written by Stavros Stavrou with the music of Michalis Hadjiyiannis.
During the performance, viewers will be able to donate money to the Cyprus Anti-cancer Society by texting 7060 with the code CAS (space)3 for 3-euro donations or CAS (space)5 for 5-euro donations. Alternatively, donations can also be made via the Society’s website www.anticancersocity.org.cy
But that’s not all the singer has planned for this Valentine’s Day. On Sunday she will hold a global live stream performing her popular and all-time favourite songs. The concert will start at 9pm, transmitted live from Gazarte concert hall in Athens and Protopsalti has shared her excitement to connect with audiences again:
“After so long and our mood will rise again like the lava of a volcano, this time our soul will unite online! Energy, strength, passion and sensitivity will rush to embrace you. You are an integral part of my life and my musical universe. So here at Gazarte, we will be waiting for you! I really missed this communication and I am incredibly happy that even through technology the extension of my emotions will embrace you. Until we meet again!”
The show will be broadcast again on February 21 at 2pm so that fans from all over the globe can tune in. Tickets for the concert cost €12, or €15 to include the pre-show, and can be purchased via viva.gr
Another well-known Greek musician is also holding a Valentines’ Day concert. Sakis Rouvas will tune in with audiences online and hold an at-home Love Concert, as the evening is called. At 8pm via the viva.gr platform, along with his musicians, Rouvas will deliver some of his most well-known songs, romantic ballads and more that his fans have requested over the last couple of days. Besides celebrating Valentine’s Day, the concert supports the Orama Elpidas Association with the sums raised by the €15 tickets, going towards the association’s projects. Tickets are sold on viva.gr
