Not every fashion company lives up to its claims of being sustainable and ethical. In fact, they may simply be ‘green-washing’ to get you to buy their products.

Sustainable clothing is designed, manufactured, distributed, and used in ways that are environmentally friendly. Ethical fashion, a related term also prevalent among conscious consumers, refers to clothing made in ways that value social welfare and worker rights. It may also refer to the avoidance of pelts, leather, and animal fibres in the clothes.

Since environmental sensitivity goes hand in hand with socially equitable practices, ethical and sustainable fashion are thus inter-related.
